Cartwheeling into Heaven

At the end of November our family had the opportunity to visit the "happiest place on earth" aka Disneyland.  Destry's employer paid for part of it and my mom, because of my dad's service in the military, could get discount discount tickets for the rest of the family.  It was fun having her with us.   Destry's dad and Claudia gave us the money for gas as our Christmas gift.  My friend Andrea gave me a tip on a great hotel deal.  We told the kids this would be Christmas for this year.   We did have a great time in spite of the insulin pod malfunctioning, the rain, and the illnesses.  It was a blessing I had been praying for.  I didn't think we would ever have enough money to take the kids to Disneyland again, but the heavens smiled down on us and blessed us through our family and friends to be able to go.  We even got to spend a cold, albeit beautiful hour at Huntington beach at sunset when we arrived.  Even though my kids are inlanders, they sure do love the

Who Needs a Rooster?

This morning, a Saturday, Destry and I were awake, but trying to get a bit more rest before we arose to meet the challenges of the day.  Across the hall we heard a five year old voice, "coca-dooldle-doo."  She quickly came into our room and tried to open our blinds--lucky for us she couldn't reach, to announce that it was morning and we should get up.  So much for a restful Saturday morning.

A Child's Prayer

Estelle is a very sensitive child.  A few weeks ago we watched a short video on facebook about a group of people who live in a garbage dump.  They used the garbage to make musical instruments and created a beautiful orchestra.  She has been praying for people without homes to  get one since she saw that.  I wanted her to enjoy the music, the ingenuity and creativity.  She recognized the poverty and her sweet spirit wants to relieve any suffering she may see.  Last night in her prayer she included praying for anyone who doesn't have a home and for children who don't have families.  She has been praying for this for quite some time as well.  She also prays for her deceased grandparents.  She includes in her prayer hopes that her Heavenly Father and Jesus are doing well.  She prays that her brother will get well.  Last night she prayed for Sarah who did a face plant in the snow after falling off a sled.  She is sweet and innocent and I love her very much!
