A Baptism and a Blessing and a New Baby

Yesterday was a red letter day!  It began at 6:30, early for a Saturday and ended late.  All the in between times were wonderful.  I readied myself and finished preparing and setting up food for the guests who attended Estelle's baptism.  I set out flowers and springish decorations.  My friend and neighbor, Melonie Jex, agreed to bake the quiche I had prepared so it would be hot and yummy when we returned from the baptism.  9:00 a.m. is early for a baptism and the conflicted with some schedules, but we had most of our family there.  Calie Macdonald was ready to have a baby so they didn't make it; he, in fact, was born this morning--yay!  With that one exception, all other grandparents aunts, uncles and cousins were present. The Tymons and Neva and Karen, Wendy and Christian came.  They are very supportive and I love them!   Even Taylor, who is sick AGAIN came to this once in a lifetime event.

Our stake Primary presidency is awesome.  They are organized and lovingly helpful.  We are in a brand new stake center.  Estelle was the only child baptized from our ward so she got to choose all the music and invite family to give talks and say prayers.  Grandpas Joe and Leon said the prayers.  Leon's prayer was much like a sermon it was a beautiful heart-felt prayer.  We are anxiously awaiting an announcement that he will be attending the temple for the first time!  We are grateful to have these two wonderful family Patriarchs.  Grandma Smith spoke about baptism and Grandma Claud taught us about the Holy Ghost.  Both directed their remarks to Estelle and were wonderful!

My favorite part of the day was after Estelle dressed in her white baptismal clothes we prayed together.  My heart filled with love for this child who made a choice to be baptized.  I am grateful for her being in my life.  I am grateful for moments alone with my children.  I am grateful she was prepared and excited for this day.  I hope she remembers it always!

The quiche took much longer than I expected to bake, but that was the only hiccup in the day.  Not too bad.  We enjoyed spending time together!  The Crump grandparents took the girls to Panguitch with them to spend a few days.  They were very excited!  It sure is quiet around here without them.

Last evening Destry, Spencer and I attended the blessing of Malcolm James Smith.  The first born child of David and Jessica.  He is adorable.  The girls were gone already and Taylor stayed home because he was sick.  It was a great day except that we had to say goodby to Adam who has been here for a week, but we realized that we hadn't seen enough of him yet.  The Morrils moved to Alaska last year and we planned the baptism and blessing around their visit.  We are happy they were here for the baptism and the blessing and are happy that Renee and the girls will be here for another three weeks which I know will go by much too fast.  And I fear that this time when they leave will be harder than the first.

I am grateful that family ties are strong and that we support each other in life's milestones.  We only have one more baptism to look forward to, but many more milestones.  I think I will get ready for church now and get ready to go meet my new nephew.

Yesterday we had a "Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad" morning that ended with a Christlike Kindness

Last Saturday morning SHOULD have been an ordinary Saturday morning.  The children have "Saturday chores" that they are required to do before they move on with their day.  There are a few exceptions.  This morning Spencer had an exception because his scout troop led by Destry went on a rock climbing expedition.  It was a gorgeous day!  They had a great time thanks to Destry's former missionary companion and friend, Dallin Ward, who shared his talents and expertise with the group.  Spencer was the star as I was told.   For those of us who stayed behind, it should have been chore time after they left.  They were all playing together nicely for a while and I just let them.  It is fun to see them getting along and playing well.  At around 10:00 I reminded them  to get get started because Emma had her first basketball game of the season and Estelle had a birthday party that both started at 1:00.  That should have been no problem. ...

Responsibilities of the Oldest and Youngest

I began this 9/25/15. I am going to publish it as is. I am sure I had a story for each about each of my children, but I only made it to two. My heart is full of love and joy for the blessing my children are to me. Each one of them are working through their own set of challenges and are blossoming. I came home from work yesterday to find that Spencer had fixed the car. On his own. It was making a weird noise before he left school and he and a friend checked it out and determined that it was an easy fix and that he could drive home with it the way it was, but it should not be driven more than that until it was repaired. He went to the auto parts store and purchased the part and fixed it. Just like that. Wow! How awesome that he is developing the skills and taking the initiative to be responsible for the maintenance of the car he gets to drive. Notice I didn't say "his" car even though he likes to think of it as that. I was so impressed and proud of him for doing that...

Dancing into My Heart

My girl, Estelle, has become quite the dancer this past year. She decided to stop taking tumbling and move on to dance classes. This was inspired, in part, by watching the Westlake Dance Company perform at the high school where Spencer was taking some dance classes. She progressed quickly in her tumbling class and is flexible and graceful.  We were too late for her to audition for a team, but I found a studio that would let her compete on their beginning teen team. She enjoyed it, but her skills and her motivation surpassed most of the other members of the team. She learned a contemporary solo dance from a neighbor, Sara Fike. It was a beautiful dance and Estelle placed at every competition, taking second twice and first once. She was told by at least one judge at every competition that she should move up to a different level. Since this was her first year dancing she competed with the beginners. Her tumbling skills definitely helped her. She also learned skills by watching YouTu...
