Destry and I were talking about what to have for dinner and he mentioned that a BLT sounded good. He also mentioned that he didn't like the olive oil mayo that we had in the fridge and that he preferred Miracle Whip. I was incredulous at this declaration! I had grown up on Miracle Whip and I saw that his mom had mayo at her house and for some reason or another I had had a conversation with his sister, JuNette, who said that she did not like Miracle Whip at all. I assumed that he came from a mayo family so that is what I have been buying for the past 17 years. Honestly, I don't love either of them and I prefer mayo if I am making certain salads like potato or broccoli, so that is what I keep on hand. He thought that I must have come from mayo-loving stock and just used it on the rare occasions that he ate a sandwich. Who knew? I really was dumb-founded by this recent revelation. He is not one to keep his food preferences to himself and I could not believe he had kept this a secret all this time. Well, I had to go to the store to get some popsicles for Estelle to take to school tomorrow and you can be sure I also purchased my first jar of Miracle Whip in 17 years.
I began this 9/25/15. I am going to publish it as is. I am sure I had a story for each about each of my children, but I only made it to two. My heart is full of love and joy for the blessing my children are to me. Each one of them are working through their own set of challenges and are blossoming. I came home from work yesterday to find that Spencer had fixed the car. On his own. It was making a weird noise before he left school and he and a friend checked it out and determined that it was an easy fix and that he could drive home with it the way it was, but it should not be driven more than that until it was repaired. He went to the auto parts store and purchased the part and fixed it. Just like that. Wow! How awesome that he is developing the skills and taking the initiative to be responsible for the maintenance of the car he gets to drive. Notice I didn't say "his" car even though he likes to think of it as that. I was so impressed and proud of him for doing that...
